Did you know?
As we travel from one Major League Baseball stadium to the next, we are really enjoying how each stadium is completely different and has its own character, history, and architecture. Here are a few of the unusual facts about Globe Life Park that we found especially interesting.
Facts Unique to
Globe Life Park

Stats
Field Dimensions:
The outfield fences are eight feet in center and right fields and 14 feet in left. The playing surface is 22 feet below street level.
According to studies done before construction, the prevailing winds are south-southeast. The effect of the wind is greatly reduced by the fact that the ballpark is completely enclosed by a four-story office building in center field. In addition, a giant windscreen, measuring 42 by 430 feet, was installed on the roof of the office building to further minimize the wind.

Thoughts from James

Globe Life Park was OK. It rained right before the game, so there was no warm up, and the stadium needed to be swept and the seats dried as we were entering. It delayed the game, but we got the game in! Even though it rained, it was really hot – like 110 degrees. We are not rating our stadiums on weather, but I really think that Dallas should get a retractable roof like Houston because not only were we hot, but the players shouldn’t play in that heat! Part of the park reminded me of Yankees Stadium with the big white arches, and the overhang roof in homer territory was almost like Tiger Stadium in Detroit. I think that they tried to make this stadium look like the older stadiums. We had great seats and we enjoyed the game, but it was just really, really hot!James
Christie’s Thoughts
Globe Life Park has a retro look but nice large seats. The heat made it difficult to enjoy 3 hours of sitting in 110 degree heat in the evening with no breeze – the air hangs in this stadium. There are lots of cool drinks to be found and ICE to be found, which are needed in order to stay hydrated in the extreme heat. Lots of BIG Texas T’s and famous Texan BBQ and beef – yummy! They get an A+ for having a designated UBER stand and announcing it in the 9th inning. Made it very easy and safe to get out of the stadium and to a secure lineup of waiting UBER vehicles. This wasn’t my favorite stadium and probably in the last 5 of 30 as we will rate them.Christie
