Did you know?

As we travel from one Major League Baseball stadium to the next, we are really enjoying how each stadium is completely different and has its own character, history, and architecture. Here are a few of the unusual facts about Kauffman Stadium that we found especially interesting.

Facts Unique to
Kauffman Stadium

Water Spectacular

  • Kauffman Stadium’s unique features include a 322-foot-wide water spectacular. The water spectacular opened as the largest privately funded fountain in the world. In keeping with the architecture of the stadium, the existing water spectacular featuring cascading water now extends near the left field corner.

  • Capacity: 37,903 fans
  • Mascot: SLUGGERRR
  • Opened as Royals Stadium on April 10, 1973

Hall of Fame

The left-field area is home to the 7,000-square-foot Hall of Fame presented by Commerce Bank, which opened in July of 2009. The Hall of Fame features numerous exciting and interactive exhibits as well as memorabilia that will delight Royals fans.

Our Reflections on the Game

Advice and reflections from the Glanville Team

Thoughts from James

Kauffman Stadium was pretty good. They did not have iceees which was disappointing because it was 90 degrees hot. Lots of BBQ food, people were friendly and serious Royal fans! James

Christie’s Thoughts

The stadium was packed and the Kansas City Royals fans wear a lot of gear and take it seriously! We noticed a lot of tailgate parties and even though the heat was 90 and the parking lot was black asphalt, they still had their coolers and BBQ’s out and were ready for pre-game party! The big crown out in center field is impressive. And quite possibly the best part besides the game and a Royals win was the fireworks show afterwards it’s was impressive and long with a BIG finale! All in all a great stadium. Christie
