HISTORY

The fledgling National League franchise first began play at Recreation Park, located at the corner of Grant and Pennsylvania Avenues along the Fort Wayne railroad tracks on the North Side. The club then moved to Exposition Park in 1891, which was situated along the Allegheny River between the PNC Park site and where Three Rivers Stadium formerly stood. After 18 years at Exposition, including hosting the first World Series in 1903, the Bucs moved to Forbes Field in Oakland on June 30, 1909. The club spent 61 seasons at Forbes, its longest tenure at any facility, before returning to the North Shore with a move to Three Rivers Stadium on July 16, 1970.

Our Reflections on the Game

Advice and reflections from the Glanville Team

Thoughts from James

Well WOW!!!! I really like PNC Park and it is for sure going to be in my top 3!!! The stadium is great and it has really nice seats. The fans were really into the game and it was beautiful. I also like the walk along the river to get there. When you are in the stadium you can see the three rivers. We went with some friends – Colleen and Matt – and that made it extra fun!James

Christie’s Thoughts

Might be my number one stadium!!! WOWZA!!! Beautiful architecture and the stadium looks onto the 3 rivers. The seats are comfortable and the stadium is easy to get around in. Nice cold beers and clean bathrooms, and yummy tacos and gyros. We were lucky to sit behind the dugout and catch balls and see the game close up behind first base. We also had friends with us who live in Pittsburgh and they are Pirates fans so that made it extra fun! The walk along the rivers to the stadium is nice with many places to stop and eat outside the park as well. PNC Park is waaaaaaay up there! Go Pitty!Christie
