Dear Educators,

Despite all of our efforts to bring you everything you need in the classroom, sometimes, teachers and students want to be able to add their own touch. With our Map Sketch Tool, you can do just that.

Map Sketch on Maps101

Look for maps with the Map Sketch button below the map, as seen here:

EXPLORE MAP SKETCH

Clicking on the button opens a new window that includes a variety of tools to customize any map with the Map Sketch tool. You can crop, flip, rotate, or draw on it. You can add shapes and icons. A text tool allows you to add words on top of the map—adjusting font size, style, color, and more. You can even filter the colors, brightness, and other settings of the map itself.

By using the text tool, I added “Polish Ghetto” to the “Allied Occupation Zones in Post-War Germany” map. You can also see the variety of choices just within the text tool of Map Sketch. See below:

Take Customizing a Step Further

Using the icons tool, I added a location button in the general area of Warsaw, where one of the ghettos during World War II was located. See below for the location button on the map and to see all of the icon options. Notice students can add different arrow styles, stars, polygons, location buttons, hearts, and talk bubbles. They can customize icons, too.

Map Sketch Engages Students’ Imaginations

You can have students customize maps in a wide variety of ways, exclusively with Maps101. What will your students do with Map Sketch? The only limit is their imagination!!!!
