Classified Concepts now Available for Television
Santa Barbara, CA
, April 12, 2006 — Classified Concepts, a division of Maps.com, today announced the launch of Broadcast Edition for Television, an innovative system allowing audiences to post ads for yard sales, open houses, community events and more on a station's website with the listings organized on an interactive map. The program was launched with WPDE-TV
, an ABC affiliate and part of Barrington Broadcasting, which serves the Myrtle Beach—Florence, South Carolina area. WPDE will pioneer the program for Barrington's eighteen other stations.
"Classified Concepts Broadcast Edition provides a great service to our viewers," says Billy Huggins, VP & General Manager of WPDE. "Every television station is striving to best utilize its website. Classified Concepts has a proven model that will not only drive viewers to our station's website, but will also generate significant new revenue for WPDE. And it's a turnkey solution."
Classified Concepts is a turnkey product that allows stations to capitalize on classified ad dollars without using up valuable spot revenue. Instead, it creates a new revenue stream that draws from viewers rather than advertisers. With Classified Concepts Broadcast Edition there is no need for added manpower — Classified Concepts handles the posting, mapping, and credit card transactions for all of the ads posted to the station's website.
Classified Concepts has been successful in the newspaper industry with their locator map programs, annually producing over $8 million in new revenue for more than 30 publications. The company is confident its Broadcast Edition will have the same exciting results, adding between $200 and $400 thousand dollars to a station's annual revenue.
